“Infectious Diseases 101 in breeding catteries” is definitely one of my favourite talks. Over the years, I learnt how much those can be a concern for cat breeders.
And during those talks I also like to ask breeders what is, according to them, the biggest infectious problem they encounter in breeding catteries. The answers I usually get leave no ambiguity. From far, feline upper respiratory infections (aka feline URI) stand first on the podium.
This obviously leads to many questions: what are the causes? Why does it seem so hard to get rid of them? What can be done in terms of prevention?
The topic we are about to dig in is obviously very complex, and I’m not going to lie : we could spend several hours (even days I suppose !) just scratching their surface. That’s obviously not the purpose of this e-book.
In it we will only highlight the key elements cat breeders need to be aware of. We believe it is critical to understand why this is a problem even the best cat breeders can eventually run into. We also go by the say : “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Across those lines, you will therefore also find some useful tips that can come in handy.
Hope this will help, and let me know what you think !
